As a smart business owner, you know that repeat customers are the key to a
successful business. But when competition is fierce, what can you do to keep them
coming back to you?
Making your customers love you isn’t rocket science, and it doesn’t have to cost you a lot. In this article I’m going to share with you 5 low cost things you can do this week, that won’t cost the earth and will increase your repeat business.
The first thing you have to understand is that you’re not selling laps around a karting track.
You’re selling an experience. Your customers come to you because they want to feel like a
racing driver. They want the rush and the buzz of winging a kart round the track and the ego
boost that comes with it.
Let’s face it, most guys at some point wished they could be a race car driver. They probably
spent many days as a child zooming around on their bikes, brumming their toy cars round the carpet and pretending they were the next Lewis Hamilton
They may have grown up, but their dreams haven’t changed. In their heads they’re still that
little boy with a love of racing who wants to get out on the track.
SO AS A KARTING TRACK OWNER IT’S YOUR JOB TO PROVIDE THAT EXPERIENCE AND DELIVER THAT DREAM. THEY NEED TO LEAVE YOUR PREMISES FEELING ELATED, EXCITED AND LIKE THE BEST RACING DRIVER IN THE WORLD.
So how do you make that happen? You’ve got the karts. You’ve got the track. What else can
you do to make your experience really special?
1: MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE A REAL RACING DRIVER
Firstly, you’ve got to make them look like a real racing driver. This means convincing looking race suits and full face helmets. No grotty overalls or cheap, workman’s cover ups. They don’t have to be expensive but they do have to look like the real deal. A proper race suit will only set you back around £30, but the impact it will have is huge. They’ll take photos, share selfies and keep coming back for more, because you made them feel like the race car driver the child inside always wanted to be.
2: AVOID SWEATY HELMETS
Do you think Jenson Button wears a helmet that smells like a bad stag do? I doubt it.
There's nothing worse than putting on someone else's helmet and smelling what they had for
dinner last night. If you're selling an experience, these small details make all the difference. Luckily, there's plenty of low cost solutions. Most of our balaclavas will set you back less than £1 each, so it's a no-brainer to give every customer a fresh, clean balaclava to wear under their helmet. You'll be amazed at how happy they'll be.
Better yet, why not grab some Fastline helmet sanitizer to keep those helmets looking and
smelling fresh too. In the age of COVID this is more important than ever, so you may need to check out our hospital grade disinfecting unit at prices that will not break the bank.
3: MEDALS, TROPHIES AND REWARDS

Who doesn’t love a trophy? Guys are competitive and there’s nothing they love
more than showing off their racing skills. Medals, trophies and rewards may seem
like a hassle you could do without, but it’s these things that make your customers feel special and will keep them coming back. Give a guy a medal and he’ll feel like the king of the world. Give him a trophy and you’ve got a customer for life.To make the most of this it’s a great idea to have a track branded podium area, make a big deal of the presentation and encourage everyone to take photos for them to share.
4: DON’T FORGET YOUR FLAGS
As I’ve said before, you’ve got to create an experience if you want to keep them coming back. Keep your flags clean and in good condition. It may seem insignificant to you, but it’s all the small things that add up to create a wonderful, memorable experience. Dirty, broken or ripped flags give the wrong impression. You want them to leave your track feeling like a million dollars. You want them to remember the elation and excitement they felt from your experience, not to go away listing the things you could have done better. Small things like flags cost as little as £7 each, so it’s not going to break the bank to keep them in good condition.
5: KEEP IT CLEAN LADS…
At a busy kart track it can be easy to let housekeeping slip. But keeping up appearances really matters. Clean toilets, floors and tables are all essentials if you want to keep your customers happy. You might think that your clients don’t care too much if the bar is dusty or the washing up needs doing, but these things can be hugely off putting. Some flash, a spring clean and some air freshener goes a long way to creating an inviting environment people want to come back to. Most importantly, don’t neglect your bathrooms. Who doesn’t judge a place by the condition of the toilets? Keep them clean with a regular cleaning rota and an hourly spot check in busy periods. It won’t cost you much and it will show your customers that you do really run a tight ship.
