If you thought rental karting was flat, think again.
On a recent trip to the USA, I had the chance to visit Atlanta Motorsports Park (AMP) in Georgia and I can confidently say it’s one of the most visually striking and technically ambitious rental kart tracks I’ve ever set foot on.
Why?
Because this place isn’t just about racing it’s about elevation. And by that, I mean a 4.5-storey vertical climb followed by a hair-raising downhill hairpin.
Here’s what I saw, what makes AMP a standout facility in the karting world, and what track owners around the globe can learn from their approach.
The Dual Briefing Setup That Sets the Tone
First impressions matter, and AMP nails it.
They use a two-part briefing system for public karting guests:
Video briefing first, providing a consistent, high-quality safety message
Followed by an in-person verbal briefing to reinforce key rules and engage with drivers face-to-face
This small operational tweak improves safety and enhances the customer experience.
Covered Pit Lane + Retail = Practical & Profitable
Moving outside, AMP features covered pit lanes a big win for both staff comfort and weather-proofing operations. No one’s scrambling in the rain, and drivers get a seamless experience rain or shine.
They also run an on-site merchandise store another smart move. Branding your experience with quality racewear, memorabilia, or even snacks increases dwell time and average spend per guest.
Let’s Talk About THAT Drop…
Here’s where AMP really shifts gears.
Just after turn three, you climb a 4.5-storey elevation straight into a sharp left-hand corner.
Drivers must judge exactly when to lift, or risk overshooting into the chicane that follows. It’s fast. It’s unforgiving. And it’s exhilarating.
Then comes the descent.A twisting, high-speed drop into one of the most dramatic corners I’ve seen in rental karting. If karting tracks were rollercoasters, this would be the front seat.
The elevation changes don’t just offer thrill they encourage rebookings, sharing, and viral content. It’s the kind of unique experience customers talk about — and that’s marketing gold.
Takeaways for Track Owners
So, what can we all learn from AMP?
Design for memory, not just mechanics. A standout feature like a big drop or sweeping curve creates stories drivers will tell.
Combine tech with touch. Their hybrid briefing model boosts efficiency and human connection.
Think like an attraction. Retail. VIP spaces. Strong branding. These aren’t extras they’re multipliers.
